Gender-Neutral Housing (GNH) is defined as a housing option in which two or more students may share an apartment, in mutual agreement, regardless of the students’ sex or gender. GNH supports the College’s non-discrimination policy and commits to the principles of social justice with respect to sexual orientation, assigned gender and gender identity. GNH provides housing options for students who may identify as transgender or are questioning their gender identity. Students who are uncomfortable with a same-sex roommate or do not wish to have a same-sex roommate will have more roommates from which to choose.

This pilot program will be in effect for the 2011-2012 academic year. For this program, five apartments in the Huntington Apartment complex will be designated as gender-neutral. Students who are interested in this pilot program will be required to submit a GNH application and are required to help the College assess the program. Each student selected to be a part of the program must sign a GNH agreement and must be committed to the program, their roommate and their apartment for one full academic year.
